Without exaggeration, this hybrid grape can be described as an elite variety for cultivation in the northern regions.
It surprisingly combines early ripeness, frost resistance and large size of sweet berries.
The creation of this hybrid is a great success of Ukrainian breeders.
Characteristics and history of breeding
Hybrid belongs to the white table grape varieties. Cases of its use for wine production were also described, but the variety was not available as a technical grape. The wine had a rather poor bouquet, while the taste and commodity qualities of fresh berries are rated very high.
In Ukrainian OB "Grape Elite" for the breeding of these grapes, the Ukrainian variety Arkady and the Russian hybrid Talisman were taken as parental forms.
The hybrid inherited its high yield and good transportability from Arcadia, the large sizes of berries and clusters from Talisman, and considerable resistance to adverse factors. Moreover, by its qualities the newly bred variety surpassed Arcadia.
This grape is also known under the names "FVA-3-3" and "New Century of ZSTU".
Excellent yields are also demonstrated by the Anniversary of the Kherson Summer Resident, the Gift of Magarach and Rkatsiteli.
Grapes "New Century": description of the variety
Vine has a great power of growth. Shoots ripen well, more than 2/3 of the growth.
Fruiting branches constitute the main part of the vine. The degree of rooting cuttings average or above average.
Flower - bisexual, degree of pollination is good. Galahad, Amethyst and Ataman possess the same sign.
Features of the fruit:
- The bunch has a conical or cylindrical-conical shape, medium friability.
- Cluster size is big. With an average weight of about 800 grams, some copies reach one and a half kilograms.
- Rounded or slightly oval berries are light yellow, greenish. In the period of full maturity, they become amber-golden, acquire a small tan.
- The grade is a little subject to a pea.
- Weight of berries - up to 9 grams.
- Dense and juicy flesh with a small crunch has a simple but harmonious taste.
- Sugar content fruit reaches 17 %, at the level of acidity no more than 6 g / l.
- The berry is covered with thin, almost imperceptible skin while eating.
- The ripened fruits can stay on the vine for a long time without losing its commercial quality.
- Fruits have good transportability, attractive appearance.
Such varieties as Rusven, Angelica and Vityaz do not lose their qualities during transportation.
Little trick. To the berries evenly ripen and do not burst in the sun, it is advisable not to be zealous with pruning leaves. Some of them are desirable to leave for a small shading of bunches.

Agrotechnology
This grape belongs to the early ripening varieties. Usually ripening occurs after 120 days after the start of foliage blooming. The variety has a significant yield.
Pleven, Lia and Kuban can boast of early ripeness.
Given the good maturity of the vine, a high degree of pollination of flowers, a significant size of the clusters during the cultivation of this grape is recommended to leave no more than 8 buds on the fruit branch.
And their total amount per bush should not exceed 45 pieces. Coefficient fruiting - up to 1.7 bunches to escape.
Frost resistance is good. Under normal conditions, the grapes withstand frost down to -22 degrees.
Richelieu, Black Panther and Pinot Noir are also highly resistant to frost.
With a light cover, the variety tolerates temperature drops to -27 degrees.
Diseases and pests
The level of resistance to mildew varieties is estimated at 3.1-3.5 points. Most grape resistant to gray mold disease.
Exposure of a hybrid variety to oidium is slightly higher than the average.
The degree of susceptibility of this grape to diseases strongly depends on the growing conditions, on the specific weather conditions of the season. In dry years, grapes are almost not exposed to diseases.
To reduce the negative impact of fungal pathogens, in wet years, additional treatments are necessary. The overall level of resistance of this variety increases markedly with an optimal agrofone.
It is important to ensure a balanced diet, timely feeding, adequate water supply.
Prevention of such ills as anthracnose, bacteriosis, chlorosis, rubella and bacterial cancer will help preserve the crop.
Pests damage these grapes to a small extent. The variety is well opposed to phylloxera. In the period of ripening hybrid must be protected from os attack.
Based on the data of varietal characteristics, New Century grapes are a promising variety for cultivation in Ukraine, Belarus and Russia. High cold resistance allows it to move further north.
Excellent product quality, low labor costs for cultivation make it attractive for cultivation not only in personal household farms, but also on an industrial scale.
