How did they come? Where do fleas come from in the house: causes and symptoms of infection

The opinion that fleas attack only premises where there are domestic animals is wrong. It is absolutely unimportant for these small parasites whose blood is saturated. Therefore, a cat, a dog, and a man can suffer from flea parasite bites.

Painful bites, itching and allergies are a small part of the trouble that this nondescript front sight can cause. A much more serious problem is the ability of these bloodsuckers to carry severe infectious diseases, such as: typhus, tuberculosis, plague, brucellosis, hepatitis.

Appearing by chance in an apartment, these insects begin to multiply with inconceivable rapidity, quickly winning back space from the owners of the house and turning their peaceful life into hell.

IMPORTANT! At the first detection of individuals, one should try to get rid of parasites as soon as possible.

How to understand that your apartment was attacked by fleas?

Very often flea bites can be confused with the bugs. Therefore, before taking steps to destroy uninvited guests you must first make sure that the house is populated by fleas.

Distinctive features of flea parasites:

  • small size(from 1 to 5 mm in length);
  • coloring. Varies from yellow to dark brown;
  • body structure. Fleas are squeezed on the sides, on the body they have bristles, which they cling to the surface;
  • jumping ability. Fleas are endowed with the ability to jump high and over fairly long distances. The high jump can reach up to 50 cm, and in length - from 50 to 100 cm. This feature helps fleas to find a suitable warm-blooded victim for whom it can easily jump.

How do fleas enter flats?

There are over two thousand species of fleas.

Residential premises are most often inhabited: cat fleas, human (they are also called basements), rat (especially dangerous because they are carriers of the plague), bedding (in fact, such a species does not exist in nature, people usually include all varieties of flea family, which are in bedding), dog.

Causes of fleas in the apartments:

  • dust, pollution is especially loved by earthen fleas that may appear in the house after a grand renovation;
  • lower floors of the house are subject to attacks of brown bloodsuckers most often, because under them are raw basements. Heat, humidity, stray animals, rats - these are the most favorable conditions for the flea population to flourish;
  • Pets. Fleas feel great in the thick hair of cats and dogs. Saddling an animal while walking on the street and arriving at it in a residential area is not difficult for parasites. How to understand that your pet is infected? Enough to watch him for a while. If he began to itch too often, gnaw his coat, his appetite is gone, sleep is the sure signs of a flea presence;
  • people. Absolutely any family member can bring a flea on clothes, shoes or in a bag with products (especially from the market) with them. Bloodsuckers multiply rapidly, after a couple of weeks the house will be teeming with flea evil spirits;
  • air vents. Fleas can visit your property on their own, moving irregularly through the ventilation shaft from the neighboring apartments or basement. It will be rather difficult to expel unwanted guests
  • unsanitary conditions. Fleas are constant companions of dysfunctional families with a complete lack of hygiene and littered with a dirty apartment. Living with such people in the neighborhood is very dangerous;
  • Where they like to live in apartments?

    • pet sleeping places (bedding, rugs, baskets, houses);
    • carpets, bed linen, capes, bedspreads, upholstered furniture, toys;
    • baseboards, cracks in the floor, window sills, wallpaper;
    REFERENCE! The opinion that adult flea individuals live in the fur of domestic animals is wrong. A flea jumps on its prey only in search of food. Saturated with blood, she seeks shelter (a warm comfortable place, which is quite a lot in the apartment).

    To get rid of flea misfortune is not easy. These small insects are very tenacious and often after the housing has been treated with insecticides, the parasites reappear after some time. That is why it is important to use preventive measures to protect your home from the brown plague.
