Saintpaulia is a plant of the Gesneriev family. She comes from East Africa - from the mountainous regions of Tanzania and Kenya. It has nothing to do with the violets that can be found in the forests and gardens of Russia, however, because of some similarities with the northern namesake, it is also called the Uzābar of violet (after the name of the Uzambarsky mountains, where it grows in nature). Saintpaulia was discovered in 1892, and since then the selection work on it has not ceased. In nature, the flowers are purple-blue.
As a result of a long selection, flowers of various colors were bred - from violet to white. There are several groups of varieties - monochromatic flowers, flowers with a border, fantasy colors (petals with contrasting specks and strokes of various shapes), chimeras - flowers with a pattern in the form of a star, each ray of which is located in the middle of the petal.
There are other options for the combination of two or three colors and shades. About 32,000 varieties of saintpaulia are known, of which about 2,000 are Russian breeding. Among them are the varieties of the Kursk breeder Tatiana Pugacheva.

"Elenika"
This variety of violets blooms with large white semi-double flowers with a corrugated border of salad-green color. In the center of the flower barely noticeable light blush. The brightness of the border depends largely on the lighting and temperature, under some conditions it may disappear and appear in the next bloom.
