A farmer from Lviv, Mikhail Kostyuk, began to grow truffles. Only two farmers are engaged in such an exotic business on the territory of Ukraine: he and his colleague from Vinnytsia, Alexander Dzhiga. So far, the farmer expects his first harvest, but already claims that the planted mushrooms help in the growth of other plants.
Mikhail has been cultivating a multitude of crops: potatoes, grapes, peppers, and nuts — all that he has preferred over 25 years. Behind Kostyuk's words, it would not have grown in such large quantities if he had not engaged in the mycorrhization of plants — by crossing the fungus roots with plants.
According to his observations, mushrooms help in the active growth of plants, if necessary, give off excess moisture and antibiotics, so that cultures do not become infected with diseases. For the so-called mycorrhization and cultivation, the farmer chose the most expensive mushroom - white Piedmont truffle.
For Michael’s predictions, if Ukrainian farmers give up the active use of pesticides and switch to mycorrhization, the yield will be much higher.
